By now, we're all familiar with the controversy surrounding the movie: The Interview. With Sony pulling the movie from theaters after threats from hackers, many of the promotional items made for the movie have now become instant collector's items, some even going for over $1,000 on eBay.
In an article posted a few weeks ago by the Hollywood Reporter, they highlighted some of the different promotional items that were for sale. While the majority of the items listed were posters or banners that were originally intended for display at a movie theater, on a bus, or in a subway, there were plenty of actual printed items up for grabs.
These items ranged from a set of three printed golf balls going for $50 to a nuclear missile-shaped cup embellished with the poster design that was listed for more than $4,000. In total, over 1,100 promotional items from The Interview were found on eBay.
Promotional items are an effective way to advertise your business, charity, school, and hundreds of other ventures. Even for a big Hollywood movie like the Interview, promotional products are still one of the most popular ways to advertise, and in this case, those products even became collectors' items.
All of this goes to show that promotional products are still an important part of advertising in today's digital world. The situation surrounding the release of The Interview is entirely unique, and it's interesting to follow the story as it unfolds.
