TJM Promotions recently had the opportunity to work with Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit corporation created by community members of Newtown, Connecticut in response to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
From the Sandy Hook Promise website:
“The first mission of SHP is to support the families of the victims, the survivors, first responders and teachers and staff of the school as well as the community of Newtown, ("our community") by providing financial and service support and assistance whenever possible and for as long as it takes for each individual to heal.”
Sandy Hook Promise works to provide "common sense solutions that will make our community and country safer from similar acts of violence through education, outreach, and grass-roots discussion." Members of Sandy Hook Promise are very involved with the local and national government to develop solutions to decrease violence in schools and other public areas. Some very prominent government officials have talked with members of the group including the governor of Connecticut, Vice President Biden, and President Obama.
Sandy Hook Promise contacted us to design wristbands for them with the name of the organization and the saying "Make the Promise." Members wear the wristbands at rallies and press conferences as a subtle reminder of who they are and what they stand for. They also give the wristbands to others to wear as a sign of their support for the Sandy Hook victims and their families. The Governor of Connecticut wore a wristband when signing a new gun law, even President Obama wore one when he addressed the nation in Connecticut concerning reducing gun violence.
Sandy Hook Promise urges people to "Make the Promise" by pledging to honor the 26 victims that lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary, and to do everything they can to "encourage and support common sense solutions that make their community and country safer from similar acts of violence."
We consider it an honor to provide the wristbands for Sandy Hook Promise and we are humbled to be even a small part of such a great organization. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and the residents of Newtown, and they are in our thoughts and prayers.
