Employee Spotlight: Mychal Hayes
Our monthly tribute to one of the great staff members we have here at TJM
Rick Cundiff
Each month, we like to showcase one of the many talented staff members here at TJM. December’s Spotlight Employee is lead graphic artist Mychal Hayes!
What do you do at TJM and how long have you worked here?
I am a lead graphic artist for TJM Promos, creating customized promotional products for customers’ events and businesses. I have worked at TJM since April 24, 2017.
What’s your favorite product that you’ve worked on?
I enjoy working with all the promotional products we have to offer, but if I had to pick one, metalcraft would be my favorite. When I am requested to design a coin or lapel pin, I feel my creative freedom sparks. I am able to design something for the customer that I myself came up with, with, of course, their direction and references.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
As much time that I spend on the computer designing and working, I tend to spend most of my time at home outside. I enjoy fishing, metal detecting, kayaking and, of course, drawing and woodworking.
Tell us a little about your family.
I am one of five children in my family. A twin to a sister. I have two older brothers and a younger brother. I was born and spent the early years of my childhood in Tucson, Arizona. With having to move due to my dad’s work a lot, I had the chance to experience Washington State, Georgia and now Florida.
What do you like most about living in central Florida?
What I enjoy the most about living in central Florida would have to be the vast number of lakes I have to fish!
What do you like best about working for TJM?
What I like best about working for TJM is the employees who work here. I have learned so much, both with multi-tasking and artwork alike. Everyone seems to be looking out for one another and wanting to help each other succeed.
Any exciting things planned in the future?
Well, currently, we are expecting a little boy any day now, our first. So that will take up a lot of my future, which is exciting in itself. But I do plan on expanding my woodworking skills and creating art pieces for myself in the near future.
Anything else you’d like to tell the world about?
Take chances and learn new things. You will never experience growth as a person or in anything you do if you let fear control the outcome.
