Customer Spotlight: Wounded Warrior Project Sedona Event
Honoring the sacrifices of military veterans and their families
Rick Cundiff
Chuck McGould knows the importance of recognizing, honoring and serving military veterans. That's why the 31-year Army vet volunteers for the Wounded Warrior Project.
The WWP, founded in 2003 is a Veterans Administration-aligned service organization, he explained. The group is dedicated to serving veterans and their families in multiple ways.
"They augment through caregiver initiative, lobbying, assistance with claims, peer-to-peer counseling," McGould said. "We're trying to maximize resources to support wounded warriors, their families and communities."
As part of that effort to maximize resources, McGould serves as tournament chairman for an annual fundraising golf tournament in Sedona, Arizona. This year marks the tournament's third year. Each year, the tournament has presented custom challenge coins from TJM to attendees.
Many of the attendees have a military background, but not all. The coin presentation is one of the highlights of the three-day event, McGould noted.
"I didn't realize how meaningful and important that coin is to people," he said. "They believe that they are doing something good and something important. They are supporting our country in a very, very important manner. It becomes a bit of a tradition ⦠They're collectible, and they're a reminder of supporting a cause."
The Sedona golf event raised $32,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project in 2020, McGould said, and $76,000 last year. This year's goal is to hit $100,000.
McGould first ordered custom coins from us more than a decade ago, when he was still on active duty in Afghanistan. Â Challenge coins are a long-standing military tradition. He ordered commemorative coins for his Army unit.
"The coin binds us for that one period of time," he said. "It gives you identity of that time ⦠membership of that time."
Over the past decade, he's ordered challenge coins from TJM multiple times.
"The quality of the coin is excellent ⦠I'm very satisfied with the customer service and very satisfied with the value," he said. "I'm very pleased with everything. (Sales Lead) Courtney is tremendous. The customer service we've received is outstanding."
We at TJM appreciate your continued business, Mr. McGould, and wish your event great success. We look forward to continuing to serve all your custom challenge coin needs.
