Customer Spotlight: Alabama State Trooper Association
Helping Alabama's State Troopers honor their own
Rick Cundiff
At TJM, we’re grateful for all our great customers, but we are especially appreciative of our military and law enforcement buyers. This month, we celebrate the Alabama State Trooper Association.
ASTA began in 1980. According to President David Steward, “The Association was organized as an autonomous organization to represent the interests and benefits of working troopers. This includes, but is not limited to, legislative proposals seeking improved benefits and working conditions and assisting the Department when possible in securing adequate funding to meet the needs of the Department.”
The organization started with 41 troopers in June 1980. By the time the first organizational meeting took place in December of that year, membership reached 252 troopers. The association was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1985.
Three years later, ASTA registered the official logo, consisting of a silhouette of a trooper's head, complete with hat, surrounded by two circles with the inscription between the circles, "Alabama State Trooper Association."
When the association was looking for a company to produce custom challenge coins that would feature that logo, Steward turned to TJM.
“I’m a past customer,” he said. “You guys do great work.”
ASTA’s coin designs honor both the organization and the State Troopers themselves.
“Our members are always pleased with the coins you guys make,” Steward said.
In addition to supporting both active and retired Alabama troopers, the association also supports citizens through programs such as Trooper Teddy Bears. ASTA provides the teddy bears to every state trooper to give to children who have been involved in or witnessed traumatic events.
Each Christmas season, association members visit hospitals statewide to present Trooper Teddy Bears to children who are unable to spend the holidays at home with their families.
ASTA has counted on TJM for multiple orders, and will continue to do so, Steward said.
“You guys do great coins. This is probably our fifth order in the last couple of years,” he said. “Matt Maio is always great to work with. Delivery time is great and so is the price.”
We appreciate the positive feedback, David. We’re always honored to work with police, fire and other agencies whose members put their lives on the line very single day to help keep the rest of us safe. It is truly a calling.
We are proud to do our part to promote morale and camaraderie among members through custom challenge coins and other products. We look forward to continuing to serve the Alabama State Trooper Association and other law enforcement and first responder agencies nationwide.
